Accused husband who killed wife for seeking divorce
KARACHI, March 16,2025- A woman who had come to court to obtain a divorce was brutally murdered by her husband outside the Malir court premises, while her daughter was injured while trying to save her mother. The accused husband has been arrested by the police.
The deceased woman has been identified as 45-year-old Rahmat Begum, wife of Sarwar, while the injured daughter is identified as Rabia, daughter of Sarwar, SHO Malir City, Firasat Shah said. Upon receiving information about the incident, the police arrived at the scene, arrested the accused, and shifted the victim’s body to the hospital for a post-mortem examination. The injured daughter was transferred to Jinnah Hospital for treatment.
The deceased woman was a resident of Gulshan-e-Buner and had been living separately from her husband in the Qaidabad area due to ongoing disputes, while her husband resided in Nazimabad. She had come to the Malir Court with her daughter to seek a divorce from her husband. As soon as she stepped out of the court, her husband, in a fit of rage, attacked her with a knife, killing her on the spot, while the daughter was injured while trying to protect her mother.
This incident has sparked demands for improved security measures around court premises. Further investigations are underway.
