Sindh Contingency Plan Activated Amid Border Tensions, Life Unaffected

KARACHI: Despite recent Indian strikes in Azad Kashmir and Punjab, life in Karachi and across Sindh remained normal, with no disruption to daily routines. However, authorities have activated a robust Sindh contingency plan, reinforcing security protocols, emergency preparedness, and inter-agency coordination across the province.

Sindh Contingency Plan Fully Activated

According to Rescue-1122 DG, retired Brigadier Wajid Sibghatullah Mahar, the Sindh Emergency Rescue Service has finalized an emergency response framework. “Rescue-1122 is on high alert and prepared with manpower, resources, and coordination protocols to deal with any emergency efficiently,” he stated.

The Sindh contingency plan outlines emergency preparedness, including the deployment of medical teams, ambulance readiness, and integration with district administrations and law enforcement agencies. All relevant departments have been informed and tasked with proactive implementation.

Education and Health Sectors Uninterrupted but Vigilant

While schools and colleges remained open, and intermediate exams proceeded as scheduled, the Sindh health department declared a province-wide medical emergency.

As per the directive issued by the DG Health, all medical staff leaves were cancelled, and hospitals were instructed to maintain close coordination with Rescue-1122 and law enforcement. Medical teams and ambulances were ordered to remain on standby to respond to any untoward incident under the activated Sindh contingency plan.

Police and Security Forces on Alert

Inspector General of Police Sindh, Ghulam Nabi Memon, instructed law enforcement to remain on high alert across all districts, especially in bordering towns and urban centers. Enhanced monitoring of markets, bazaars, and public installations has been mandated.

“The Pakistan army, air force, and navy are extremely alert at the borders, while the Sindh police remain vigilant inside the province,” the IG declared.

In Karachi, Police Chief Javed Alam Odho convened an emergency meeting to assess security preparedness. He cancelled all police leaves, ordering officers to report to headquarters and increase surveillance of key installations and public spaces.

Normalcy with Preparedness

The Sindh contingency plan ensures that while routine life continues without disruption, the provincial government remains equipped to deal with any escalation. Citizens in Karachi and other cities are advised to stay calm but alert, as all institutions are coordinating under a unified response framework.

This measured yet proactive response reflects Sindh’s commitment to maintaining public safety and readiness during a period of heightened regional tension.
