Renowned Indian filmmaker and producer Mahesh Bhatt revealed that legendary actress Parveen Babi was married, and her husband had moved to Pakistan. He mentioned that he found out about this during the time he was in a relationship with her.
It is worth noting that Parveen Babi, one of the greatest and highest-paid actresses of her time, and Mahesh Bhatt, who was married to Kiran Bhatt at the time, had a romantic affair.
However, Parveen Babi’s personal life was filled with sorrow, which led her to struggle with mental illness.
In a recent interview, the 76-year-old Mahesh Bhatt openly spoke about his affair with Parveen, who belonged to the royal family of Junagadh, and disclosed that she had been married once—a fact she revealed to him much later.
According to Bhatt, years later, when he visited Pakistan for the Kara Film Festival, he was informed that a man (Parveen Babi’s husband) wanted to meet him.
“But I couldn’t meet him. I never said I didn’t want to meet him, but for some reason, it didn’t happen. I kept wondering why he wanted to meet me. I’m not the kind of person who shuts the door on anyone,” Bhatt said.
It may be recalled that Parveen and Mahesh Bhatt met in 1977 when she was at the peak of her career. However, their relationship ended three years later. Parveen Babi was found dead in her Mumbai apartment in 2005 at the age of 55.
