ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has approved the National Youth Employment Plan, a comprehensive initiative designed to equip Pakistani youth with market-driven skills and employment opportunities.

During a high-level meeting on Thursday, the Prime Minister reviewed the framework of the National Youth Employment Plan, which focuses on industry-aligned training programs. The initiative aims to provide 2.4 million to 6 million young individuals with training annually over the next four years.

To ensure effective implementation, PM Shehbaz announced that he would personally oversee the monthly progress of the National Youth Employment Plan. He emphasized that the country’s youth are a valuable asset and that the government is committed to empowering them with vocational training and skill development.

Federal Ministers Ahad Khan Cheema, Shaza Fatima Khawaja, Chairman Prime Minister Youth Program Rana Mashhood Ahmed Khan, Chairman Higher Education Commission Dr. Mukhtar Ahmed, and senior officials attended the meeting.

What is the National Youth Employment Plan?

Chairman of the Prime Minister’s Youth Program, Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan, described the National Youth Employment Plan as a “comprehensive and revolutionary initiative” that will provide structured government support from training to employment.

The initiative includes:

  • Vocational training programs tailored to industry needs.
  • Internships and business support for young entrepreneurs.
  • Specialized training in technology, digital skills, and other emerging sectors.

He emphasized that the National Youth Employment Plan will play a pivotal role in Pakistan’s economic growth by creating job opportunities and enhancing youth capabilities. The government is also working with national and international organizations to maximize employment prospects.

“This initiative reflects the government’s commitment to economic progress and youth empowerment. By equipping young Pakistanis with modern skills, we are ensuring their participation in the global workforce,” he added.

The government aims to launch the Digital Youth Hub this month to provide a dedicated platform for youth development and employment opportunities.
