KARACHI Nov 14,2025- Matters have been resolved between the Commissioner of Karachi and the Hotels Association. Following the directives of the Commissioner of Karachi, the sealed roadside tea stalls and hotels have been de-sealed.
The Commissioner of Karachi stated that a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) has been formulated. Hotel owners have provided written assurances for its implementation. The purpose of the SOP is to prevent obstructions on footpaths and roads for pedestrians and traffic.
The Deputy Commissioners of Karachi have de-sealed the roadside tea stalls and hotels across the city that were previously sealed, after they fulfilled the legal requirements.
The Karachi administration had initiated action on October 27th by sealing tea stalls and hotels established on footpaths and roads. A total of 255 roadside hotels and tea stalls were sealed during this operation.
The Commissioner of Karachi had created the SOP regarding the sealed hotels and tea stalls to improve traffic flow, under which the determination of required space for a hotel or tea stall will be decided based on verification by the Mukhtar Kar (authorized person) and Traffic Police, and the recommendation of the Town Officer. The relevant Deputy Commissioner will issue the NOC.
The decision to de-seal the roadside hotels and tea stalls was made after the Hotels Association provided written assurances and submitted written affidavits to implement the SOP.
