Police arrested seven guards in connection with the Karachi Boat Basin torture incident, recovering modern weapons.

KARACHI: Police on Friday arrested seven guards allegedly involved in the Karachi Boat Basin torture incident, where a citizen was brutally attacked. The arrests followed a late-night operation in two locations, during which modern weapons were also recovered from the suspects, Deputy Inspector General (DIG) South Syed Asad Raza confirmed.

Weapons Recovered, Licences Under Scrutiny

According to DIG South, the recovered weapons are under investigation to verify whether they were legally licensed. The arrested guards were employed by Shah Zain Marri, the primary suspect in the Karachi Boat Basin torture incident, who managed to flee to Balochistan after the attack.

Police officials have already contacted the Balochistan government to facilitate Marri’s arrest, while further operations are ongoing to capture other suspects involved.

Viral Video Led to Swift Police Action

The incident gained attention after a video went viral on social media, showing armed men in a four-wheeler vehicle at Boat Basin. The footage captured the moment the vehicle bumped into an Alto, after which multiple armed men exited and attacked the passengers inside the smaller car.

Authorities confirmed that the attack occurred on February 18 at 3 AM, prompting the police to register a case against the suspects.

CCTV Footage Aided in Arrests

With the help of CCTV footage, police successfully identified the attackers and conducted targeted raids, leading to the arrests of seven guards. DIG South instructed the senior superintendent of police (SSP) Investigation and superintendent of police (SP) Clifton to prioritize the case and use all available resources to ensure swift justice.
