The Jam Sadiq Bridge in Karachi will remain closed from March 14 to 17 due to ongoing development work. Traffic will be diverted to alternative routes during this period.

The Jam Sadiq Bridge, a major route connecting Karachi to its industrial zone, will be temporarily closed due to ongoing development work, according to traffic police authorities.

The bridge will remain closed from 7 AM to 2 PM between March 14 and March 17, with traffic being redirected to alternative routes during this period.

Sindh Government’s Expressway Project

Despite the closure for maintenance, the long-awaited Sindh government’s expressway project—which aims to link the Karachi Port Terminal (KPT) with the Jam Sadiq Bridge—has yet to be implemented.

The decision to construct this key expressway was made in a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) Board meeting, chaired by Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah.

According to the chief minister:

  • The 12.5-kilometer expressway will have both elevated and underground sections.
  • It will serve as a direct link from KPT Terminal to Malir Expressway via the Jam Sadiq Bridge.
  • The Sindh Local Government Department has been instructed to finalize the project in collaboration with the PPP Unit.
  • The expressway will be built using the Public-Private Partnership model with government funding.

Other Key Developments Under PPP Mode

The Sindh government is also moving forward with the NDD Technology Park, another public-private partnership project with a budget allocation of Rs. 1.7 billion. The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed, and formal agreements are expected to be finalized within the current month.

Additionally, the PPP Policy Board has approved a large-scale reforestation project covering over 100,000 hectares of land in Sindh. The initiative will receive assistance from the Asian Development Bank for reforestation across 88,022 hectares.
