Free School Bags Given to Students at Umerkot Disability Cente 

UMERKOT, June 4,2025 – A ceremony was held at the Rehabilitation Center for Persons with Disabilities in Umerkot by the Sindh Desert Development Organization (SDDO), a social organization of Umerkot, where free school bags were distributed among students.

The event was attended by Mr. Eitbar Buriro, Deputy Secretary of the Special Education Department; Mr. Abdul Hameed Dahani, Regional Director of Mirpurkhas; Dr. Hassan Bakhsh Nonari, Deputy Director (DEPD); and the school principal, Mr. Pir Raheel.

The driving force behind SDDO, Professor Abdul Razzaq Bhatti, and Board Director Muhammad Bakhsh Kanbhar, added further prestige to the program by speaking on the rights of persons with disabilities and the importance of high-quality training. They stated that the revolutionary measures taken by the Sindh government are commendable. The Sindh government has implemented highly effective and transformative initiatives for the rehabilitation of persons with disabilities, and the organization’s efforts were appreciated.

The school principal, Mr. Pir Raheel, expressed gratitude for the support and cooperation of Sindh Desert and offered to work together for future collaboration and assistance. Board Director Muhammad Bakhsh shared various proposals and plans for the rehabilitation of persons with disabilities in future initiatives, stating that SDDO has included several disability rehabilitation projects in its long-term plan, which will soon be launched with the support of the Sindh government and various donors.

In the end, SDDO’s Advisory Director Abdul Razzaq thanked all the guests and expressed immense joy, saying, “Today marks the inauguration of a program dedicated to our noble cause—the rehabilitation of persons with disabilities. We aim to establish a model rehabilitation center in Umerkot, where exemplary work in education, training, and physical rehabilitation will be carried out. Seeing the smiles on the children’s faces today has filled our hearts with joy. Further improvements and sustainable plans are under consideration to bring a revolutionary change in the lives of these special children.”
