FM  Ishaq Dar Engages in Key Diplomatic Calls

Karachi, March 6, 2025 – Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar held important telephone conversations with several prominent international leaders, discussing key issues of mutual interest.

The first call came from U.S. National Security Advisor, Michael Waltz, who conveyed President Trump’s appreciation for Pakistan’s continued efforts in countering terrorism. In response, DPM/FM Dar congratulated Waltz on his new role and reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to further strengthen cooperation with the U.S. on counter-terrorism. Additionally, Dar welcomed President Trump’s recent announcement regarding the withdrawal of U.S. military equipment left behind in Afghanistan.

Later, DPM/FM Dar received a call from UAE Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan. During the call, Sheikh Abdullah conveyed heartfelt Ramadan greetings to DPM Dar, the Pakistani leadership, and the people of Pakistan. The two leaders also discussed the outcomes of the recent visit by H.H. the Crown Prince of the UAE to Pakistan, emphasizing the strengthening of bilateral ties.

In a separate conversation, DPM/FM Dar spoke with Denmark’s Foreign Minister, Lars Løkke Rasmussen, to discuss enhancing trade and investment relations between the two nations. The leaders focused on promoting public-private partnerships and reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening cooperation on multilateral platforms.

Additionally, DPM/FM Dar held a phone call with Azerbaijan’s Foreign Minister, Jeyhun Bayramov, during which he expressed appreciation for the warm hospitality extended to the Pakistani delegation during the recent visit of Azerbaijan’s Prime Minister to Pakistan. Both leaders agreed to expedite the implementation of agreements related to trade and investment that were discussed during the visit.

Pakistan-Italy Bilateral Political Consultations

On February 28, 2025, the sixth round of Pakistan-Italy Bilateral Political Consultations took place in Rome. Pakistan’s delegation was led by Foreign Secretary Ambassador Amna Baloch, while Italy’s delegation was headed by Secretary General Ricardo Guariglia. Both sides expressed satisfaction with the positive trajectory of bilateral relations and reaffirmed their commitment to expanding cooperation in key sectors such as economy, agriculture, defense, higher education, and people-to-people contacts. The two sides also discussed regional and international issues and pledged closer coordination within the United Nations.

Pakistan has rejected the remarks made by India’s External Affairs Minister regarding Jammu and Kashmir at an event at Chatham House in London on March 5, 2025. Pakistan emphasized that Jammu and Kashmir remains an internationally recognized disputed territory, with its final status to be determined through a free and impartial plebiscite under UN auspices. Pakistan urged India to vacate the occupied territories and underscored that the ongoing grievances of the Kashmiri people cannot be addressed through economic measures or military force.

FM Dar’s Upcoming Visit to Saudi Arabia for OIC-CFM Session

DPM/FM Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar is set to travel to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, to attend the Extraordinary Session of the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers (CFM) on March 6, 2025. During the session, Dar will reaffirm Pakistan’s unwavering support for the Palestinian cause, advocating for the full withdrawal of Israel from all occupied territories, including Jerusalem. He will also call for the restoration of the inalienable rights of the Palestinian people, including their right to return to their homeland and the establishment of a sovereign Palestinian state with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital.
