FIA nabs passenger at Karachi Immigration with fake visa for Italy

KARACHI, Dec 10,2023: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) apprehended a passenger at Karachi Immigration who had returned from Nigeria and Saudi Arabia, revealing a sophisticated scheme involving a forged visa for Italy.

The FIA spokesperson disclosed that Naeem Akhtar, a resident of Hafizabad, had tampered with the visa pages in his passport. Akhtar initially traveled to Nigeria using his Pakistani passport with a legitimate visa but later sought a visa for Italy through an agent based in Nigeria, paying a hefty sum of Rs 22 lakh.

Attempting to deceive immigration authorities, Akhtar presented the falsified visa upon his return to Pakistan from Saudi Arabia, where he had traveled from Nigeria. Upon reaching Saudi Arabia, realizing the implications of his actions, the accused tore the fake visa from his passport.

The FIA spokesperson emphasized that Naeem Akhtar has been handed over to the Anti-Human Trafficking Circle Karachi for further legal proceedings. The arrest underscores the ongoing efforts by law enforcement agencies to combat passport and visa fraud, safeguarding national security and maintaining the integrity of the immigration system.
