Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has launched the CM Insulin for Diabetes program, a groundbreaking initiative aimed at supporting children diagnosed with Type-I congenital diabetes. The program, which includes the introduction of the ‘CM Insulin Card’ scheme, ensures the free delivery of insulin and related medical supplies directly to the homes of affected children across Punjab.

In a heartfelt gesture symbolizing the government’s commitment, the CM personally distributed insulin cards to young patients. Accompanied by Pakistan Post riders, she visited several homes, including those of Wasay Adnan in Sabzazar Q-Block, and Zainab Waheed and Zain Shahzad in Jamil Town, handing over insulin cards along with insulin, glucometers, blood sugar testing strips, and needles.

Demonstrating compassion, CM Maryam Nawaz warmly greeted families and embraced Wasay Adnan’s grandmother, promising to gift Wasay a car due to his condition as the youngest of three siblings living with diabetes since birth. She also arranged for Zain Shahzad’s eye check-up and treatment. The CM’s visits were met with large crowds, with residents warmly welcoming her, young girls showering flower petals, and many requesting selfies.

The launch of the CM Insulin for Diabetes program marks a major step forward in Punjab’s healthcare initiatives. CM Maryam Nawaz expressed deep concern about the rising cases of diabetes among children and reaffirmed the government’s commitment under the ‘Sehatmand Punjab’ vision to provide essential medicines to every child in need. “This free insulin program is a response to the heartfelt appeals of struggling parents and the urgent needs of their children,” she said, emphasizing that children will now receive insulin alongside glucometers and testing strips for the first time.

In the first phase of the program, 1,500 children will benefit from free insulin delivered to their doorsteps. Using a specialized mobile app, Pakistan Post riders will scan and verify the CM Insulin Cards before delivering a three-month supply of insulin under Pakistan Post’s Cold Chain System. Enrolled children must undergo quarterly medical check-ups at designated hospitals to continue receiving support.

Eligible children can register for the CM Insulin for Diabetes program at NCD Clinics, Maryam Nawaz Health Clinics, or through the Healthline app (1033). Regular follow-ups at district or tehsil-level health facilities are mandatory to maintain access to the program’s benefits.

The CM Insulin for Diabetes program reflects Punjab’s dedication to improving child healthcare and managing the growing diabetes challenge, ensuring that essential care reaches those who need it most.
