Baloch Solidarity Committee protests in Quetta: Three killed, 10 Injured in Police Action
QUETTA, March 22, 2025- Protests led by the Baloch Solidarity Committee against the arrests of its leaders turned violent as police used baton charges, aerial firing, and tear gas shells to disperse the crowd. The clashes resulted in three fatalities and ten injuries, including a female police officer. Two bodies were brought from Sariab and handed over to their heirs.
The Baloch Solidarity Committee staged a sit-in on Sariab Road with the bodies, announcing a province-wide shutdown and wheel-jam strike. Heavy police presence has been deployed across the city to prevent further unrest, while mobile net services remain suspended, and the red zone has been sealed with containers.
The protests began after the Baloch Solidarity Committee announced a sit-in in front of Balochistan University to oppose the arrests of Babar Baloch, Hamal Baloch, Dr. Elias, Saeeda Faisal, and others. As demonstrators gathered, police resorted to aerial firing, baton charges, tear gas shells, and water cannons to disperse the crowd. The injured were rushed to Civil Hospital and BMC for treatment.
The situation remains tense as the Baloch Solidarity Committee continues to demand justice and the release of detained leaders.
