Aror University hosts international symposium on climate change and sustainability

SUKKUR, June 22, 2025– The Aror University of Art, Architecture, Design & Heritage, Sukkur, successfully hosted the 2nd International Symposium on “Drastic Challenges of Climate Fluctuations and Sustainability of Biodiversity, Quality of Life, and the Environment.” The event brought together renowned scholars, environmental experts, and policymakers to address pressing global climate issues.

Inaugural Session Highlights

The opening ceremony was presided over by Muhammad Abbas Baloch, Secretary of the Universities & Boards Department, Government of Sindh, as the chief guest. Prof. Dr. Zahid Hussain Khand, Vice Chancellor of Aror University, welcomed the attendees and presented the institution’s vision and strategic goals.

Esteemed international speakers, including Dr. Steven Bonta (USA), Prof. Dr. Zeliha Selamoglu (Turkey), Dr. Ece Aksoy (Italy), Prof. Dr. Dengxin Li (China), Dr. Iqbal Hussain Jafri, JFK (USA) delivered insightful talks on climate resilience, biodiversity conservation, and sustainable development.

Prominent academic leaders, including Prof. Dr. Muhammad Yousif Khushk, VC, SALU, Khairpur, Prof. Dr. Asif Ahmed Shaikh, VC, SIBAU, Engr. Prof. Dr. Altaf Ali Siyal, VC, Sindh Agriculture University, Dr. MB Raja Dharejo, Deputy Commissioner, Sukkur, Prof. Dr. Shazia Anjum, VC, Sadiq College Women University, Bahawalpur, shared their expertise on mitigating climate change impacts.

The symposium featured two dynamic panel sessions:

Panel I: The Global Impact of Climate Change on Human Health and Livelihoods.

Panel II: Impact of Climate Change on Biodiversity and Environmental Sustainability.

A special address by Naseer Memon, further enriched the discourse.

Student Exhibition & Closing Ceremony

Participants visited an exhibition of student projects, reflecting the university’s motto “Learn, Earn, and Grow,” showcasing innovative solutions to environmental challenges.

The closing ceremony was attended by Fayaz Hussain Abbasi, Commissioner of Sukkur, and Prof. Dr. Syed Mir Muhammad Shah, PVC, Sukkur IBA University, who commended Aror University for organizing a world-class academic event in the historic region of Aror and Rohri.

In his concluding remarks, Prof. Dr. Zahid Hussain Khand thanked the speakers, Sindh HEC, Sukkur Beverages Pvt Ltd, and the organizing team for their contributions to the symposium’s success.

The event underscored the urgent need for collaborative efforts in combating climate change and fostering sustainable development.
