Punjab CM Maryam Nawaz vows to construct 500,000 houses in five years under the ‘Apni Chhat, Apna Ghar’ program
Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif has reaffirmed her commitment to tackling housing challenges in Punjab, announcing plans to construct 500,000 houses within the next five years under the ‘Apni Chhat, Apna Ghar’ program.
Chairing a high-level meeting, CM Maryam Nawaz reviewed progress on the 3-Marla Free Plot Scheme and directed authorities to accelerate loan disbursements for eligible beneficiaries.
Revamping Existing Housing Schemes
In addition to launching new projects, CM Punjab emphasized the rehabilitation of 23 existing housing schemes under PHATA (Punjab Housing and Town Planning Agency) across 19 districts. She directed immediate action for the release of funds to upgrade infrastructure and improve living standards in these schemes.
“Providing roofs to homeless families is a priority,” said CM Maryam Nawaz. “It is heartening to see people’s homes being built under the ‘Apni Chhat, Apna Ghar’ program.”
Progress on ‘Apni Chhat, Apna Ghar’ Program
During the meeting, DG Punjab Housing and Town Planning Agency (PHATA) provided an update on the ongoing housing initiative.
- 9,661 houses are nearing completion across Punjab.
- Loan repayment under the program has started, with a 100% repayment rate.
- CM Maryam Nawaz has set a March deadline for meeting housing targets.
The Punjab government continues to push forward with affordable housing initiatives, ensuring that low-income families gain access to safe and secure homes.
