All facilitators of Police Lines attack apprehended: IG Khyber Pakhtunkhwa
PESHAWAR, Dec 29,2023: Inspector General (IG) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Akhtar Hayat Khan revealed that all individuals involved in the attack on police lines have been successfully arrested.
In a video statement, IG Akhtar Hayat Khan highlighted the ongoing efforts to counter terrorism, stating that 137 potential terrorist attacks on the police force have been thwarted throughout the year. The comprehensive report provided by the IG included staggering statistics, indicating that 917 terrorists were apprehended, 300 were neutralized, 185 police officers sacrificed their lives in the line of duty, and 400 others sustained injuries in various incidents.
Moreover, the IG underscored the commitment to enhancing the role of female officers in law enforcement. He announced that the number of female police stations in the province has been increased from 2 to 4. Additionally, 11 armored vehicles have been allocated to the police in tribal districts, reinforcing their capacity to combat emerging threats.
In a concerning revelation, IG Akhtar Hayat Khan pointed out the challenges in tracing Afghan mobile SIMs used in extortion. He disclosed that 10 Afghan terrorists were involved in 15 suicide attacks during the year, adding that efforts to track these individuals are complicated by the elusive nature of their communication methods.
The IG in October emphasized the cross-border impact of terrorism, revealing that 75 percent of suicide attacks in different districts of the province were attributed to individuals with ties to Afghanistan.
