Noshki oil tanker explosion leaves 40 injured

At least 40 people were injured after an oil tanker explosion in Balochistan’s Noshki district on Monday, officials confirmed. The incident occurred when the parked tanker caught fire during welding work, leading to a massive blast.

Noshki Deputy Commissioner Amjad Soomro stated that the fire started due to welding work on the tanker. “The fire brigade was attempting to control the flames when the truck suddenly exploded,” he said. Several firefighters and police personnel were among the injured, with some suffering severe burns (70-80%).

Emergency Response

23 critically injured victims were airlifted to Quetta for treatment.

An emergency was declared in Quetta hospitals.

Over 10 people with minor injuries were discharged after first aid.

Government Reaction

Balochistan CM Mir Sarfraz Bugti ordered a transparent investigation and immediate relief efforts.

Provincial spokesperson Shahid Rind confirmed 30+ burn injuries and damage to a fire brigade vehicle.

Past Incidents
Oil tanker explosions are not uncommon in Pakistan. In 2017, 212 people died when a fuel tanker overturned in Punjab, igniting a massive fire. Last year, a Karachi welding accident caused a similar blast, killing one.

Authorities have warned against unsafe welding near fuel tanks as investigations continue.
