Islamabad: March 26, 2025 – The Wafaqi Mohtasib, Mr. Ejaz Ahmad Qureshi, presented the institution’s Annual Report 2024 to President Asif Ali Zardari at the Aiwan-e-Sadr. The report highlighted a historic milestone, with 223,198 public complaints resolved in a single year—a 16% increase from 2023.

The Wafaqi Mohtasib’s Office processed 226,372 complaints in 2024, marking a 17% rise from the previous year. The report credited this success to key initiatives such as: Khuli Katcheries (open courts) in remote areas, Informal Resolution of Disputes (IRD) mechanism, Inspection visits to complaint-prone service delivery departments

Additionally, 93.21% of the decisions were implemented, showcasing the institution’s efficiency and robust procedures.

With offices in 24 cities, including Muzaffarabad (AJ&K) and Gilgit-Baltistan, the Wafaqi Mohtasib has become a free and accessible justice system for citizens. The report also emphasized efforts for Overseas Pakistanis: Resolving 149,060 complaints, including airport facility improvements and Children’s welfare: Proactive measures for better protection

Pakistan continues to play a leading role in the Asian Ombudsman Association (AOA), currently holding its presidency. The country remains committed to advancing ombudsmanship across Asia and beyond.

The Wafaqi Mohtasib’s 2024 report underscores its dedication to speedy justice and administrative relief, reinforcing its reputation as the “poor man’s court.”
