Lahore court cancels Nazish Jahangir’s arrest warrant after she attends hearing

A Lahore court on Saturday cancelled the non-bailable arrest warrant issued for actor Nazish Jahangir after she voluntarily appeared for a hearing and submitted a Rs50,000 bond. The warrant had been issued due to her absence in previous hearings related to a fraud case filed by fellow actor Aswad Haroon.

The case, filed in 2024 under Section 420 of the Pakistan Penal Code (cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property), alleges that Jahangir borrowed Rs2.5 million and a car from Haroon for a two-month project but failed to return them even after six months. Haroon claims that Jahangir arranged a meeting at a farmhouse to return the car’s documents but instead sent a man named Sikandar Khan, who allegedly threatened him with weapons.

During Saturday’s hearing at the Cantt Kutchery Court, judicial magistrate Ghulam Shabbir Sial canceled the arrest warrant after Jahangir appeared with her lawyer, barrister Haris, and submitted the bond. The court had earlier directed the police to arrest Jahangir and present her before the court.

The next hearing has been scheduled for April 28.

This case has seen multiple developments since its filing. In September 2024, Jahangir filed a petition for pre-arrest bail, claiming the FIR was registered with “malafide intention and for ulterior motives just to humiliate and harass the petitioner.” However, the petition was dismissed. In October 2024, the Lahore High Court directed the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) to decide on a separate petition filed by Jahangir to stop social media propaganda against her.

The case continues to draw significant attention, with both parties presenting their claims in court.

Meanwhile, renowned actress Nazish Jahangir has warned those spreading false, misleading, and unverified information about her.

She has threatened to take legal action against anyone under the PECA Act 2016 if the dissemination of false information about her does not cease.

The actress issued a formal warning through an Instagram story on the photo and video-sharing platform.
