KARACHI: The Sindh government is actively pursuing economic growth and international investment opportunities, as highlighted in a recent meeting between Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon and UK Deputy High Commissioner Lance Domm.

During the meeting, discussions covered Sindh’s economic development plans, ongoing infrastructure projects, public welfare initiatives, and bilateral cooperation with the United Kingdom. The Sindh minister outlined the province’s strategic focus on key sectors such as transport, healthcare, housing, education, and energy, emphasizing investment opportunities for British businesses.

Sindh’s Transport Sector Leads Innovation with Electric Vehicles

Sharjeel Inam Memon highlighted Sindh’s commitment to modernizing public transport by introducing Pakistan’s first electric vehicle (EV) buses. He stated that these eco-friendly buses provide a modern, comfortable, and sustainable travel experience for commuters.

He also revealed that the government has approved a free electric bike project for working women and female students, ensuring greater mobility and empowerment for women in the province.

Healthcare and Housing Projects Set New Milestones

The meeting also focused on Sindh’s advancements in healthcare, with world-class medical facilities like NICVD and CyberKnife now accessible to citizens. These initiatives aim to provide top-tier healthcare services and reduce the burden on public hospitals.

Sharjeel Inam Memon further discussed the province’s ambitious housing project for flood victims, noting that 2.1 million houses are being constructed to rehabilitate families affected by natural disasters. The minister emphasized that this is one of the largest housing projects in the world, providing long-term relief to displaced communities.

UK Praises Sindh’s Development Initiatives

British Deputy High Commissioner Lance Domm commended Sindh’s efforts in infrastructure development, public welfare, and economic reforms. He expressed the UK’s interest in strengthening partnerships in key sectors and exploring further investment opportunities in the province.

The meeting concluded with a mutual commitment to enhance economic cooperation, ensuring that Sindh remains a prime destination for international investment and sustainable development.
