BLA Claims Responsibility for the Attack

The Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) claimed responsibility, stating it bombed the tracks before storming the train in the Sibi district. The group also alleged it was holding several passengers, including security officials, hostage and warned of “severe consequences” if rescue attempts were made.

However, officials have not confirmed whether any hostages were taken.

The Jaffar Express was en route from Quetta to Peshawar when it was attacked. Officials reported that the train remains stuck near a mountain tunnel in an area without mobile or internet coverage, making communication difficult.

  • At least three people, including the train driver, were injured, according to local police.

Government’s Response

Pakistan’s Interior Minister Mohsin Nawaz strongly condemned the attack and prayed for the speedy recovery of the injured. Security forces have been deployed to the area, but no communication has yet been established with passengers.
