Shah Latif’s work demands new research dimensions: Madad Ali Sindhi 

Karachi, Nov 04: Caretaker Federal Minister for Education Madad Ali Sindhi inaugrates 4th Latif Art & Literature Festival 2023 on 04 Nov 2023 at Arts Council Karachi.

In the inaugural session literary personalities Syed Ahmed Shah, Dr. Fahmida Hussain, Jami Chandio and Taj Joyo shed light on Latif’s life and said that Latif’s poetry was an umbrella that covered all aspects of life. He was a philosopher, traveler, anthropologist, astronomer and historian. His vision was very specific and very general and he narrated stories of everyone.

While addressing inaugural session Minister Mr. Madad Ali Sindhi congratulated the organisers for arranging such literary activities. During his speech the Minister recalled his 7 years at Cultural Department Sindh as how he collected and printed different books on Shah Latif’s life which were even dated to 1880s. He emphasized that research on Shah Latif’s life needed new dimension and same old approach of romanticising his poetry needed to be stopped as Shah Latif’s life was bigger than that.

To curtail such practice of traditional research approach on Shah Latif’s life he said that University of Karachi and University of Sindh would issue degree on the subject and topics of research on Latif untraditionally. He wondered how Latif had clear vision and memory to see the history and trace the events of past, present and future that made his poetry immortal.
After inaugural session, the Federal Minister visited different handicrafts and book stalls and appreciated Siraj Institute of Sindh Studies for providing such literary opportunities to the public.
